Gi Dae-hang (奇大恒, 1519-1564) was an early Joseon official of the Haengju Gi, courtesy name Gagu. His father was Gi Jun, who died in the Gimyo Purge, and his grandson was the later Chief State Councillor Gi Ja-heon. The Encyclopedia of Korean Culture names Gi Chan as his grandfather.
After a run of prestigious posts he went as secret royal inspector to Pyeongan in 1551, served as remonstrance official and Director of Special Advisors, governed Hwanghae in 1556 and was magistrate of Chuncheon for three years from 1558, governing well.
In 1561, as Grand Remonstrator, he submitted a six-point memorial after natural disasters urging reverence for Heaven, respect for ancestral law, devotion to learning, acceptance of remonstrance, use of worthy men and love of the people. In 1563, as Vice-Director of Special Advisors, he exposed the powerful Yi Ryang, who was plotting to purge the Sarim, helping send him into exile at Ganggye. He then became Inspector-General and Vice-Minister of Personnel, and in 1564 Governor of Hanseongbu, dying that year. His posthumous title is Jeonggyeon.
In 1563 he and Sim Ui-gyeom exposed Yi Ryang's plot against the Sarim, leading to his exile to Ganggye.
His tomb location was not confirmed in this survey.
His grandson Gi Ja-heon became Chief State Councillor under Gwanghaegun.
