Life & career

Yi In-im was a civil official during the reigns of King Gongmin and King U in late Goryeo, of the Seongju Yi clan. For his merit in repelling the Red Turban invasions, he was enrolled as a second-class merit subject, and after serving as Commander of the Northwest Frontier and other posts, he was enfeoffed as Prince Gwangpyeong.

After the death of King Gongmin, he enthroned King U and rose to Chancellor (Sumunha Sijung and Munha Sijung), seizing control of the government and pursuing a pro-Yuan foreign policy. Having suppressed the new scholar-officials and monopolized power, he was ousted by Choe Yeong, Yi Seong-gye, and others, and died of illness in his place of exile.
