Jukseong-gun-pa, Ijae-gong-pa, Jehak-gong-pa, An Jun-gye, An Yeong-ui-gye
The Jukseong-gun line, commonly called the New Juksan An, honors as founder An Won-hyeong (安元衡), said to have been chancellor (munha sijung) in late Goryeo and enfeoffed as Lord Jukseong (竹城君). It is said to descend from the line of the eldest son of An Ja-mi, founder of the Sunheung An clan.
His son An Myeon (安勉) passed the licentiate examination in 1341 and was dismissed as a remonstrance official for exposing Sin Don's misconduct. The righteous-army leader Eunbong An Bang-jun (安邦俊), active in the Imjin and Manchu wars, was An Won-hyeong's tenth-generation descendant, from a family settled in Boseong, Jeolla Province, since his fifth-generation ancestor An Min.
The Ijae-gong branch is formed by the descendants of An No-saeng (安魯生), eldest son of An Myeon. An No-saeng passed the civil service examination in 1376 and was exiled to Yeonghae as an ally of Jeong Mong-ju when Jeong was assassinated; recalled in 1399, he served as academician of the Hall of Worthies, vice-minister of rites and of personnel, and governor of Gyeonggi and Chungcheong.
His descendants live in Paju, the Ochi-dong and Maewol-dong areas of Gwangju, Hampyeong, Muan, Jinan and Gochang in North Jeolla, and North Gyeongsang.
The Jehak-gong branch is formed by the descendants of An Jeong-saeng (安挺生), An Myeon's second son, said to have served as academician (jikjehak) of the Bomungak under King Sejong.
His descendants live in Jangheung, Boseong, Gangjin, Hwasun and Suncheon in South Jeolla, and in Paju and Yangju in Gyeonggi Province.
The An Jun lineage is one of the two lines of the Old Juksan An clan, counting An Jun (安濬) as its first ancestor. An Jun's seventh-generation descendant An Geuk-in (安克仁), father of Queen Jeong (定妃), consort of King Gongmin, was enfeoffed as Lord Jukseong.
His son An Suk-ro (安叔老) served as military commissioner of the northwest after the founding of Joseon, and An Suk-ro's grandson An Maeng-dam (安孟聃) married Princess Jeongui, King Sejong's daughter, and was titled Prince Consort Yeonchang. An Maeng-dam's eleventh-generation descendant An Yun-haeng (安允行) became minister of punishments under King Yeongjo.
The An Yeong-ui lineage is the line of the Old Juksan An clan that counts An Yeong-ui (安令儀) as its first ancestor; it and the An Jun line kept separate genealogies, published in 1744 and 1805.
An Yeong-ui's great-grandson An Jeon (安戩, ?-1298) served under King Chungnyeol of Goryeo as surveillance commissioner of Jeolla and privy councillor, and as military commissioner for Gyeongsang, Chungcheong and the northwest.
