Chogan-gong-pa (草澗公派)

The Chogan-gong branch descends from Chogan (草澗) Gwon Mun-hae (權文海, 1534-1591), compiler of the encyclopedic Daedong unbu gunok. A disciple of Yi Hwang, he passed a special civil service examination in 1560, served as magistrate of Gongju and royal secretary, and is enshrined at Bongsan Seowon in Yecheon.

The branch head house in Yongmun-myeon, Yecheon, is a designated National Folklore Cultural Heritage; its detached hall, built in the late 15th century by Gwon Mun-hae's grandfather Gwon O-sang, is a designated Treasure. His son Gwon Byeol (權鼈) compiled the Haedong japrok.
