Kim Taek-sul (金宅述, 1918-1981) was a South Korean politician who served in the 2nd and 3rd National Assemblies. Wikipedia gives his seat as Dogang, and he is named among the representative figures in the Dogang Kim article. He graduated from the law faculty of Chuo University in Japan and served as North Jeolla deputy chair of the General Federation of Korean Labor and as president of the Jeonnam Commerce Daily.
Standing in Jeongeup-gun B, he lost in the 1st election of 1948, won first place in 1950 for the Peasant-Labor Youth League, and again won first place as an independent in 1954. In 1958 he ran as an independent and came third.
Jeongeup holds many Dogang Kim clan villages, so his career unfolded in the clan's home ground. Because the Wikipedia article is a stub, fuller details could not be confirmed.
Winning first place in Jeongeup-gun B in 1950 and 1954 shows a solid local base. The 1950 election was held shortly before the outbreak of the Korean War.
The 1948 election in which he first stood chose the Constituent Assembly just before the government was founded, and the 1950 election was held on 30 May, about a month before the Korean War. His background in labour and peasant organisations shows how local politics then rested on social groups.
Namuwiki lists Dogang Kim clan villages at Sinwol-dong, Tongseok-ri in Gamgok-myeon, and Bangok-ri, Baegam-ri, Sisan-ri and Waeu-ri in Chilbo-myeon of Jeongeup. That Kim Taek-sul, Kim Won-gi and Kim Gae-nam all came from the Jeongeup area shows how central the district was.
His tomb could not be confirmed.
