Bak Mun-su (朴文秀), courtesy name Seongbo, pen name Giun and posthumous title Chung-heon, belonged to the Goryeong Park clan and to the Soron faction. He passed the civil examination in 1723, was credited with helping suppress Yi In-jwa's rebellion and rose to Governor of Gyeongsang, being enrolled as a second-class Bunmu merit subject.
He later served as Minister of Military Affairs, Finance and Rites, and is said to have relieved starving people as relief commissioner of Hamgyeong. Though famed as the model secret royal inspector (amhaeng eosa), the records indicate he was sent several times as a special envoy rather than as a secret inspector. His writings include the Takji Jeongnye.
