Chief state councillor under Seonjo and leader of the Small Northerners

Ryu Yeong-gyeong passed the civil examination under Seonjo and, after holding a series of key posts, rose to chief state councillor; he is presented as a central figure of the Small Northerners faction. After Seonjo's death he is said to have been impeached in the course of Gwanghaegun's accession, exiled and put to death. He is presented as a member of the Jangnyeong-gong line (Nakbong-gong sub-line) of the Jeonju Ryu.
