Mid-founder of the Jeju Yang clan (tradition: Silla Hallim academician, enfeoffed as Lord Halla)

Yang Sun is honored as the mid-founder of the Jeju Yang. Genealogical tradition says he entered Silla in 682 under King Sinmun, served as a Hallim academician and was enfeoffed as Lord Halla.
These accounts come mainly from clan genealogies and are not independently confirmed, so they are best read as tradition rather than established fact.
Within the Jeju Yang, Yang Sun is honored as the mid-founder linking the mythical founder Yang Eul-la with the first recorded ancestors of Goryeo. The genealogy between them rests almost entirely on clan tradition.
The family register records that he entered Silla in 682 under King Sinmun and served as a Hallim academician. It is hard to confirm that this title existed in Silla officialdom as such, so it may be a later phrasing.
He is said to have been enfeoffed as Lord Halla, a title named after Mount Halla on Jeju, a tradition read as reflecting the ties between the Jeju lineage and Silla.
The same tradition says a descendant, Yang Tang, went as envoy to Silla in 559 under King Jinheung and received the surname 梁. It is linked with the change from 良 to 梁, though dates may vary among sources.
After Goryeo the clan divides into the Yugyeok-gong branch from Yang Bo-sung and the Seongju-gong branch from Yang Gu-mi. Under the Yugyeok-gong branch are sub-branches such as Hyegang-gong (Yang Paeng-son) and Soswaewon-gong (Yang San-bo).
No tomb is recorded.
Later generations are organized through Yang Bo-sung (Yugyeok-gong branch) and Yang Gu-mi (Seongju-gong branch) of Goryeo.
