Yun Deok-jun (1658-1717) was an official under Sukjong whose courtesy name was Bangseo, pen name Iram, and whose seat is Namwon. According to Wikipedia he passed the civil examination after the 1680 political shift (Gyeongsin Hwanguk), starting as remonstrator and inspector and passing through compiler, vice proofreader, personnel official and proofreader. In 1689 the Gisa shift sent him down to a post-station chief at Gosan and he was dismissed; he returned after the 1694 shift and served as proofreader, chief secretary and royal secretary.
In 1695 he rose to the senior ranks as royal secretary, moved between Inspector-General and Director of the Seonggyungwan, and became a vice minister in 1701. During the sorcery case he is said to have urged severe punishment of Jang Hui-bin and Jang Hui-jae and exiled Nam Gu-man and others, but he was dismissed in 1702 after impeachment. He returned in 1706 as governor of Gyeongsang, went out as governor of Hamgyeong in 1708, and back in 1709 was promoted to Vice Minister of Personnel, joining the ministers.
In 1711 he became Minister of Justice, rising to the top rank, and afterward held in turn the posts of Governor of Hanseong, Right Councillor, Minister of Rites, Governor of Gyeonggi, Minister of Personnel and Minister of Works. In 1716 he became head of the Office of Royal Inquest but was dismissed for mishandling a case, and later rehabilitated on the petition of Chief State Councillor Kim Chang-jip.
Yun Deok-jun's career follows the frequent hwanguk of Sukjong's reign, sudden changes in the ruling faction. He passed after the 1680 shift, was pushed out in 1689 and returned in 1694. Officials in the censorial and personnel posts of this period often faced impeachment and reinstatement each time the political situation changed.
