Panseo-gong-pa, Dokgok-gong-pa, Hoegok-gong-pa, Sanggok-gong-pa, Jeongjeol-gong-pa
The Panseo-gong branch descends from Seong Gi (成紀), of the sixth generation from the founder Seong In-bo. The Changnyeong Seong clan split into two main lines with the third-generation brothers Seong Gong-pil and Seong Han-pil, and then into thirteen branches in the sixth generation, of which the Panseo-gong branch is listed first.
According to the branch chart, Seong Gi was the son of Seong Han-chung (成漢忠), a grandson of Seong Gong-pil, placing him in the same sixth generation as the founders of the Dokgok, Hoegok and Sanggok branches.
The Dokgok-gong branch descends from Seong Seok-rin (成石璘, 1338-1423, pen name Dokgok) and is also called the Mungyeong-gong branch after his posthumous title. The eldest son of Seong Yeo-wan, Prince Changnyeong, he passed the state examination in 1357.
He is remembered for setting up relief granaries during a famine while governor of Yanggwang Province. He took part in the founding of Joseon, was named a merit subject and was enfeoffed as Prince Changnyeong under King Taejong, and after serving as right and left state councillor became chief state councillor in 1415.
The Hoegok-gong branch descends from Seong Seok-yong (成石瑢, 1352-1403, pen name Hoegok) and is also called the Munsuk-gong branch. The second son of Seong Yeo-wan, he passed the civil examination in 1376 and after the founding of Joseon served as inspector-general and governor of Gaeseong.
Seong Sam-mun (成三問, 1418-1456), one of the Six Martyred Ministers, was his great-grandson and belongs to this branch. His grandson Seong Hui (成熺) was exiled for involvement in the plot to restore King Danjong and later settled at Daljeon-ri, Geumnam-myeon, in present-day Sejong; Seong Hui's son Seong Dam-su is counted among the Six Loyal Subjects who lived in retirement.
The Sanggok-gong branch descends from Seong Seok-in (成石因, ?-1414, pen name Sanggok) and is also called the Jeongpyeong-gong branch after his posthumous title. The third son of Seong Yeo-wan, originally named Seong Seok-yeon (成石珚), he placed first in the civil examination of 1377.
Under Joseon he served as inspector-general, chief scholar of the Office of Royal Decrees, and minister of punishments, revenue and rites. His grandson Seong Bong-jo became right state councillor and his great-grandson Seong Jun chief state councillor; Seong Hyeon, author of Yongjae chonghwa, and the scholar Seong Hon (成渾) also came from this branch.
The Jeongjeol-gong branch descends from Seong Sa-je (成思齊), a loyal official of late Goryeo known as Jeongjeol-gong. He served as an academician of the Bomungak under King Gongyang and is remembered as one of the Seventy-two Worthies of Dumundong who refused to serve the new Joseon dynasty.
A spirit-path stele honoring his loyalty stands in Changnyeong, South Gyeongsang (a provincial cultural heritage), and woodblocks of the Dumundong seonsaeng silgi recording his life also survive.
