The Sirang-gong branch descends from Ha Gong-jin (河拱辰), who during the second Khitan invasion under King Hyeonjong of Goryeo persuaded the Khitan to withdraw through diplomacy, and who, held captive by the Khitan, refused their inducements and was executed. He was posthumously named a chancellery minister.
His tenth-generation descendant Ha Eul-ji (河乙沚) became a first-rank merit subject for repelling the Red Turbans, and eleventh-generation Ha Ryun (河崙) was chief state councillor under King Taejong and is enshrined in the royal ancestral shrine. In early Joseon, three generations, Ha Gyeong-bok, Ha Han and Ha Suk-bo, were noted military officials.
The Sajik-gong branch descends from Ha Jin (河珍), who served as a sajik (palace guard officer) under Kings Jeongjong and Munjong of Goryeo. In the preface to the first clan genealogy of 1451, Ha Yeon wrote that because the line could not be traced to Ha Gong-jin, Ha Jin was adopted as founder.
The line runs through ninth-generation Ha Jeup (河楫), tenth-generation Ha Yun-won (河允源) and eleventh-generation Ha Ja-jong to twelfth-generation Ha Yeon (河演), chief state councillor under King Sejong, whose descendants make up more than half of the Jinju Ha. The lineage of Ha Wi-ji (河緯地), one of the Six Martyred Ministers, was also merged into this branch in the 2000 comprehensive genealogy.
