Dongjusa-gong-pa, Pandojwarang-gong-pa, Daejehak-gong-pa
The Dongjusa-gong branch descends from Heo Jeong (許程), eldest son of Heo Gong (許珙, posthumous title Mungyeong-gong), a merit subject enshrined in King Chungnyeol's royal shrine. Heo Jeong served as governor of Dongju (the present Cheorwon area). The Yangcheon Heo clan divided into three main branches in the generation of Heo Gong's sons, the 11th generation.
From about the time of his great-grandson Heo Ho (許灝), his descendants lived together around Gwanghyewon in Jincheon County, North Chungcheong, and from early Joseon spread to Danyang, Yeongju, Yecheon, Andong, Miryang and elsewhere. The branch's ancestral graves and its shrine hall Jingyeongjae are at Geumgok-ri, Gwanghyewon-myeon.
The Pandojwarang-gong branch descends from Heo Gwan (許冠), third son of Heo Gong, who served as an assistant section chief in the Ministry of Revenue (pando jwarang). It flourished greatly and is said to account for more than 60 percent of the Yangcheon Heo clan today; all of the clan's Joseon state councillors and ministers came from the descendants of Heo Gi (許愭, Maeheon-gong) of this branch.
Its descendants include the brother state councillors Heo Jong and Heo Chim, left state councillor Heo Uk, the Namin leader Heo Mok (pen name Misu), chief state councillor Heo Jeok, Heo Jun, author of Dongui bogam, and Heo Yeop with his children Heo Seong, Heo Bong, Heo Gyun and Heo Nanseolheon. It has ten sub-branches, including the Chungjeong-gong, Munjeong-gong and Jasan-gong lines.
The Daejehak-gong branch descends from Heo Bu (許富), fifth son of Heo Gong. Under King Chungsuk of Goryeo he served as a royal secretary and rose to minister of personnel (seonbu jeonseo).
Whereas the other two branches moved to places such as Jincheon, Jangdan and Yeoncheon in late Goryeo and early Joseon, this branch is said to have remained centered on Gongam, the clan's birthplace (Heosanggok, in present-day Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul), until the 1500s. Its sub-branches include the Icheon-gong, Yangan-gong and Yangcheon-gun lines, of which the descendants of Heo Hyeong-son (Yangan-gong) became the most numerous.
