The Yeonghae Park clan (寧海 朴氏) is seated at Yeonghae-myeon, Yeongdeok, North Gyeongsang. Tradition names Bak Hyeokgeose as original ancestor and the Silla loyalist Bak Je-sang as founder, with Park Myeong-cheon, said to be Bak Je-sang's 26th-generation descendant, as the revered ancestor. A tradition says he served Goryeo's Taejo, but this could not be confirmed in detail from public sources.
Yeonghae was the seat of a Dohobu garrison on the east coast. Do not confuse this clan with the Yeonghae branch (founded by Park Ji-mong) of the Muan Park clan; they are separate lineages sharing a place name.
The clan is not among the eight-prince lines of King Gyeongmyeong but is said to descend from Bak Je-sang. Namu Wiki's article on the Gangneung Park clan says Park Ron, elder brother of Gangneung's ancestor Park Sun, became the ancestor of the Yeonghae Park, which suggests a shared origin by tradition only.
Namu Wiki gives 25,189 for 2015, whereas Wikipedia lists the same figure for 2000 (ranked 209th), so the source year is uncertain; 1985 was 21,299. Clan villages include Hoein-myeon in Boeun, Bonghwa in North Gyeongsang, Yeonghae in Yeongdeok, and Yanggu and Hoeyang in Gangwon.
Wikipedia lists the Panseo-gong, Taesa-gong, Donong-gong, Bonghwa-gong and Chilui-gong branches. Their founders could not be verified, so no branch cards are given.
According to Wikipedia the clan had no civil-examination graduates in Joseon but 12 military-examination graduates, and produced many interpreters (yeokgwan). Check clan records for precise figures.
Modern politicians are omitted.
A Yeonghae Park Daejongchoe association exists, but its official site was not confirmed in this research.
