Commander who fought at the Battle of Danghangpo in the Imjin War (Assistant Defense Commander)

Bae Gyeong-nam (裵慶男, 1548-1597) is introduced as a Bunseong Bae man active in the Imjin War. The Wikipedia clan article says he fought at the Battle of Danghangpo as Left Special Commander (jwabyeol-dojang), won distinction and became an assistant defense commander (jobangjang). Danghangpo, at Goseong in South Gyeongsang, is the sea battle in which Yi Sun-sin's fleet defeated the Japanese navy in June 1592.
His record, however, varies by source. Wiki-derived texts say he passed the civil examination and served as magistrate of Sunchang and of Danju, which is hard to reconcile with the military role in Wikipedia, and a person of the same name may have been mixed in. This research could not determine which is correct. Note also that the title jobangjang was held at the same time by Bae Heung-rip of the Seongju Bae clan, so the two should not be confused.
He died in 1597, the year of the renewed Japanese invasion (Jeongyu Jaeran), but where and how was not confirmed. His descendants and burial place should be checked in the genealogy and local clan records.
Wikipedia records participation at Danghangpo and appointment as jobangjang, while wiki-derived texts record a civil examination pass and posts as magistrate. Whether they refer to the same person and in which periods could not be confirmed from primary sources, so no firm statement is made.
Wikipedia's article on Yi Sun-sin describes the early Imjin War engagement at Danghangpo, off Goseong County in South Gyeongsang today, in which the Korean fleet defeated the Japanese navy. There were two battles of Danghangpo, in June 1592 and in 1594, and the sources do not say which one Bae Gyeong-nam took part in.
