Life & career

Park Myeong-eon (1873-1948) helped organize the March 12, 1919 independence demonstration in Indong-myeon, Chilgok, North Gyeongsang Province, together with Pastor Yi Sang-baek and others.

The group made Taegukgi flags and copied out the Declaration of Independence to post around the village, then that evening around 8 p.m. gathered roughly 200 residents on a hillside behind Jinpyeong-dong, waving the flags and shouting for Korean independence before being arrested and imprisoned.
