Life & career

Bak Un-seo (朴雲瑞, 1866-1908) joined the "Righteous Army Alliance of Uprising" formed on August 27, 1907, when Yi Seok-yong met with fighters he had already recruited, serving as commander of the middle army (jung-gun) together with Yeo Gye-mok and Kim Seong-hak.

Yi Seok-yong was elevated to commander-in-chief on September 4 of that year and led resistance across North Jeolla Province; Bak Un-seo fought in this unit until he fell in battle.

The government posthumously awarded him the Order of Merit for National Foundation, Patriotic Medal, in 1991.
