Life & career

Park Yeong escaped from the Japanese army in 1944 and was attached to the Loyal National Salvation Army for anti-Japanese activities.

Conscripted as a student soldier in 1944, he was assigned to the Japanese Army's 60th Division in Suzhou, China. On February 3, 1945, he and comrades including Kim Yeong-nam and Jeong Byeong-hun escaped with weapons under the pretext of a front-line inspection and made their way to Chongqing, joining the Loyal National Salvation Army of the Chinese Third War Zone. He later supplied Japanese military documents and intelligence to American advisers, and his exploits were reported in the Jeonseon Ilbo.
