Founding ancestor of the Uiseong Gim clan

Gim Seok, originally named Gim Jung-seok, is venerated as the founding ancestor of the Uiseong Gim clan. He is said to have been a son of Gyeongsun, the last king of Silla, born to Princess Nangnang, eldest daughter of Goryeo's founding king Taejo Wang Geon, and was enfeoffed as Lord of Uiseong in the early Goryeo period, giving his descendants their clan seat.
The genealogical record between Gim Seok and the eighth generation after him remains unclear, and historical sources actually credit a later descendant, Gim Yong-bi, as the first to formally adopt Uiseong as the clan's seat.
The clan flourished from the generation of Gim Gong-u, whose sons Gim Yong-bi, Gim Yong-pil, and Gim Yong-ju founded the various branches that make up the Uiseong Gim clan today.
His descendants took Uiseong as their ancestral seat and carried on as a distinguished family.
