Jeon Yu (全侑) is traditionally the founder of the Okcheon Jeon clan. Under King Chungsuk of Goryeo he held posts including Bongik Daebu, Deputy Director of the Privy Council, Minister of Census and Sanghogun, and was enfeoffed as Lord of Gwanseong (管城君), after Gwanseong, the old name of Okcheon. The Digital Geumsan and Sejong encyclopedias call him a 27th-generation descendant of the original ancestor Jeon Seop, while a Segye Ilbo series calls him a 12th-generation descendant of Jeon I-gap. The Chungcheong Times says he came as Magistrate of Okcheon in Goryeo and settled there.
Namuwiki, however, says the clan itself reveres Jeon Hak-jun, a Dongjeong official of Goryeo, as the founder and Jeon Yu as the mid-founder, so who counts as founder differs by source.
Gwanseong is the old name of Okcheon. Because Jeon Yu was enfeoffed as Lord of Gwanseong, his descendants took Okcheon as their seat, which is why the clan is also called the Gwanseong or Gwansan Jeon.
His descendants are said to have divided into three branches, Jeonseo-gong, Bongsang Daebu-gong and Panseo-gong, descending from his three sons. See the Okcheon Jeon page for details.
His portrait and eulogy, found in 1933, are said to be enshrined at Mokdam Seowon in Okcheon.
His son Jeon Suk (Lord of Hugwanseong) is said to be the founder of the Panseo-gong branch; descendants include Jeon Paeng-ryeong, Jeon Sik and Jeon Hui-cheol.
