Jeong I-hyeong (original name Won Heum, pen name Ssanggong), a native of Uiju, North Pyongan, fled to Manchuria in 1922 and joined the Korean Unification Corps, then led armed units as a company commander after the Righteous Government (Jeongui-bu) was formed in 1924. In 1926 he helped found the Goryeo Revolutionary Party and became a central committee member. Captured by Japanese police in Harbin in 1927, he spent 19 years in prison until liberation.
