Kim Seon-pyeong (金宣平) is the founding ancestor of the (New) Andong Kim clan. When King Taejo Wang Geon of Goryeo fought Gyeon Hwon of Later Baekje, he aided Wang Geon at Andong together with Gwon Haeng and Jang Jeong-pil, distinguishing himself greatly, and is revered as one of the Three Grand Masters (Samtaesa) of Andong.
For that merit he rose to Daegwang (大匡), and basing himself at Andong, his descendants took Andong as their ancestral seat. The so-called Jangdong Kim family, which stood at the center of in-law politics in late Joseon, is of this line.
