No Jeon (盧戩) was an early Goryeo merit subject from Gwangju. His dates and parents were not confirmed in this research. Korean Wikipedia introduces him under the Gwangju No category, and among Goryeo-era Gwangju No he is counted as a fairly early name. The Gwangju No page here also lists No Jeon, No Sung and No Ja-hyeong as representative figures.
According to the record, when the Khitan invaded Goryeo in 1010 and the second Goryeo-Khitan war broke out, he served under Gang Jo as judge of the field headquarters and took part in the battle of Tongju. The war began when the Khitan emperor personally led an army using as pretext the 1009 coup of Gang Jo, which deposed Mokjong and enthroned Hyeonjong; Gang Jo confronted the Khitan at Tongju. No Jeon was taken prisoner in that fight, and Wikipedia writes that he was sent to Tongju fortress with Ma Su and seized by Choe Jil and Hong Suk. Details differ by source, so the Goryeosa and other primary texts should be consulted.
His name is also known to appear as a character in the KBS historical drama Goryeo-Khitan War of 2023-2024 (played by Kim Tae-han), an example of the public learning of a Gwangju No figure. But a drama contains dramatic invention and should be kept apart from the historical record. His descendants, tomb and later career were not confirmed here, so Jokbo World records only what was verified.
In 1009 Gang Jo deposed Mokjong in a coup and enthroned Hyeonjong, and the next year the Khitan invaded Goryeo on that pretext. Gang Jo led an army to confront the Khitan at Tongju, and No Jeon is said to have been with him as judge of the field headquarters. The war became a great crisis that reached the fall of the capital Gaegyeong and Hyeonjong's flight south. No Jeon's personal record survives only in fragments, but he is introduced as a Gwangju No who left his name in a major national event of early Goryeo.
The record on No Jeon is very short, and his dates, parents and descendants are unconfirmed. His generational relation to the founder No Hae of the Gwangju No is also unknown, so Jokbo World presents him only as an early figure of the Gwangju No. His appearance in a drama is a matter of popular recognition, separate from historical verification, so readers are advised to consult the Goryeosa and research papers for details.
His tomb was not confirmed in this research.
