Park Jeung-son (朴曾孫, 1496-1573) was a scholar of the Sangju Park and the clan's first settler in Suncheon, South Jeolla. Courtesy name Daei, pen name Ungok. His father was Park Yun-mun and his grandfather Park Yang-seon. The Digital Suncheon Culture Encyclopedia says he passed the lower examination; one source dates it to 1510, which does not fit his birth year and needs checking.
He first studied under his kinsman Park Se-hui and then under Jo Gwang-jo. When Jo's circle was destroyed in the 1519 Gimyo Purge, he was urged to withdraw from the capital and went south to Ungok village in Sangsa-myeon, Suncheon, together with his two sons and his son-in-law Heo Hyeong, founder of the Yangcheon Heo in Suncheon.
There he devoted himself to teaching rather than office and was revered as a teacher of his age. His grandson Park Dae-bung became a volunteer fighter in the Imjin War. Icheon Seowon in Dongbaek-ri enshrines Park Jeung-son, Park Dae-bung and Park Se-hui; it was founded in 1827, demolished in the 1860s and rebuilt by descendants in 1961.
After the 1519 purge he moved with his two sons and son-in-law Heo Hyeong to Ungok village in Suncheon and taught students.
Icheon Seowon in Dongbaek-ri enshrines him with Park Dae-bung and Park Se-hui; descendants rebuilt it in 1961.
His tomb is said to lie on Ungoksan in Sangsa-myeon, Suncheon, facing west.
His grandson Park Dae-bung became a famous volunteer commander; the Suncheon descendants form the Panseo-gong (Suncheon) line.
