Ryu Sun-jeong served as minister of personnel under Yeonsangun and, as the king's misrule deepened, is known to have joined Park Won-jong and Seong Hui-an in the 1506 Jungjong Restoration. After the coup he is said to have been enrolled as a first-class merit subject, ennobled as Prince Cheongcheon and raised to chief state councillor. He is presented as a member of the Iryu line of the Jinju Ryu.
