Seo Jin (徐晉) is the founding ancestor of the Dalseong Seo clan. He is said to have served as Bongikdaebu Pandopanseo (版圖判書) during the Goryeo period, and basing himself at Dalseong (達城) in Daegu, his descendants took Dalseong as their ancestral seat.
The Dalseong Seo clan is a representative surname group of the Daegu region, producing the family of three consecutive State Councillors passing through Seo Jong-tae, Seo Myeong-gyun, and Seo Ji-su, as well as the Silhak scholar Seo Yu-gu in the Joseon period.
It produced a family of three consecutive State Councillors and the Silhak scholar Seo Yu-gu in the Joseon period.
