Seo Seong (b. 1942) is a South Korean jurist of the Buyeo Seo clan from Nonsan, South Chungcheong. A graduate of Kyunggi High School and Seoul National University law school, he ranked first in the first bar examination.
He was a presiding judge in Seoul civil and criminal courts, in the Gwangju and Seoul High Courts, then head of planning and deputy chief of Court Administration, and served as a Supreme Court justice from September 1997 to September 2003. From 2003 to 2016 he worked at the law firm Sejong.
As chief judge in Chuncheon he is said to have invited staff, including cleaners, to a party at the official residence, and when named a possible justice he met opposition for rejecting, in the 1985 Kim Geun-tae trial, a petition to preserve evidence of torture. During the Roh Moo-hyun government he argued that judicial reform should not mean only a fresh-looking structure.
He served as a Supreme Court justice from 1997 to 2003 and then at the law firm Sejong until 2016. His career is marked by key posts in the Court Administration.
