Seol Son was a Uyghur, originally named Baekryosun, whose family took the surname 偰 from the Seolryeon river region. He passed the jinsa examination in Yuan China in 1345 and tutored the crown prince; fleeing the Red Turbans, he came to Goryeo around 1358, where King Gongmin gave him a house and land and the title Marquis Buwon. He died in 1360.
His sons included Seol Jang-su, Seol Yeon-su, Seol Bok-su, Seol Gyeong-su and Seol Mi-su. His collected writings are lost, with a few pieces in Dongmunseon. Note that this entry is the Uyghur-descended 偰 line, not the native 薛.
