Song Gan (宋侃, pen name Seojae) was an early-Joseon official of the Wonyun-gong branch who renounced office after King Danjong was deposed. His dates are uncertain (local sources give 1405-1480 or 1417-1492). Having served Kings Sejong, Munjong and Danjong and reached the rank of gaseon daebu (clan tradition says he was vice minister of punishments), he was returning from a royal inspection of the south in 1455 when he learned that Danjong had been exiled to Yeongwol. He reported to Danjong there, withdrew to Yeosan, and after Danjong's death observed three years of mourning in the mountains before hiding in Maryun village, Heungyang (Goheung), where he lived as a wandering, grieving recluse.
He is said to have joined Kim Si-seup in a memorial rite for Danjong at Donghaksa. He received the posthumous name Chunggang in 1793 and is enshrined at the Seodongsa shrine and Jaedong Seowon in Goheung. His descendants, including the brothers Song Dae-rip and Song Hui-rip, formed the clan's Goheung lineage.
His descendants formed the Goheung lineage, including his sixth-generation descendants Song Dae-rip and Song Hui-rip.
