The Changwon Park clan (昌原 朴氏) takes Changwon in South Gyeongsang as its ancestral seat. Wikipedia names Park Yu-hwa (朴有華) as founder and Park Ryeong (朴齡) as middle founder, and describes the seat-founder as Park Ryeong, a great-grandson of Park Yu-hwa, the 12th-generation descendant of Prince Milseong Park Eon-chim. Park Ryeong is listed among the twelve "middle ancestors" of the Miryang Park and his home is recorded as Uichang, the old name of Changwon. Namuwiki instead calls the seat-founder Park Ryeong, a late-Goryeo magistrate of Changwon, so sources word his period differently. His three sons are given as Park Hong-gan, Park Hong-sin and Park Hong-ji.
Wikipedia reports 8,382 Changwon Park in the 2015 census, ranking 19th among Park seats; Namuwiki gives 1,897 households and 6,121 people for 2000. Information on home regions and clan villages was not found in public sources.
Park Ryeong (?-1434), courtesy name Ho-bu, began in 1398 as military commander of Gangju and magistrate of Ganghwa, then served as commander of Gangye, military commissioner of Gyeongwon and Sakju, and magistrate of Hongju, reaching military commander of Hwanghae and magistrate of Haeju in 1419. When King Sejong toured Haeju he is said to have had Park sit above the governor as an old retainer; in 1421 he became Chief Commander of the Left Army and went to Ming China as an envoy. He is described as frugal and skilled in martial arts; at his death in 1434 court and markets were halted for a day and his posthumous title was Yangjeong.
No named branches or branch founders could be verified in public sources, so no branch cards are given here. Details such as the number of civil and military examination graduates, the clan association and generation names were also not found. Please consult the clan's genealogy.
The Changwon Park is described as a branch of the Miryang Park, whose ancestor is Prince Milseong Park Eon-chim, eldest son of King Gyeongmyeong of Silla. The eight-princes account is a tradition of Park genealogies, and some seats (such as the Bannam Park) do not accept it. This page rests on Wikipedia and Namuwiki, so please verify with a genealogy.
