Park Hui-gwang (1901-1970) was an armed independence fighter with the Tongui-bu (Righteous Government) active around Fushun and Fengtian in southern Manchuria.
In 1924, on Tongui-bu orders, he formed a three-man assassination squad with commander Kim Gwang-chu and fellow member Kim Byeong-hyeon to purge Korean collaborators. On 1 June 1924 they killed Jeong Gap-ju, a collaborator serving as secretary of the Korean association in Lushun, and his son, and on 7 June they raided the home of collaborator Choe Jeong-gyu, who ran the pro-Japanese Bomindan and had committed various atrocities, killing his mother-in-law and a subordinate.
Arrested for these actions, he was sentenced to death by the Dalian District Court on 26 July 1925, but his sentence was commuted twice while he was imprisoned at Lushun Prison; he served 18 years and was released in March 1943.
