Life & career

Choe Seok-sun (pen name Baeksun; d. 1925), from Sakju, North Pyongan Province, was a commander who served with the Korean Independence Corps, the Tongui-bu, and the Chamui-bu (Righteous Army Command) in Manchuria.

As second company commander and later chief of the Chamui-bu, he led operations into Korea, but was surrounded and killed by Japanese police at Gomaryeong, Ji'an County, Manchuria, in March 1925 — an incident that claimed many of the unit's leaders.
