Gim Seong-beom (1898/1899–1930) was born a posthumous child to the Confucian scholar Gim Sun-uk in Chosan, North Pyongan Province. Following the March First Movement, he became a founding member of the Cheonma Special Battalion organized by Choe Si-heung in February 1920, serving as a squad leader who crossed the border more than forty times and carried out over twenty raids to raise funds, punish collaborators, and attack township offices. When the Provisional Government's Gwangbok Army General Camp was formed in September 1920, he also served in its military affairs section. Arrested in August 1926, he was sentenced to death by the Pyongyang Appellate Court, staged a hunger strike in prison, and died at Pyongyang Prison on March 17, 1930. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit for National Foundation, Independence Medal, in 1995.
