Kim Sin (1922-2016), son of independence leader Kim Gu and Choi Jun-rye, was born in Shanghai and joined the Korean Independence Party in 1944, serving on the staff of the Provisional Government's Interior Ministry.
He trained as a pilot in Yunnan and British India (Lahore) and completed flight school in San Antonio, Texas, before returning to Korea with his father in November 1945. He went on to serve in the Republic of Korea Air Force, saw combat command during the Korean War, and rose to Air Force Chief of Staff (1960-1962); he later served as ambassador to the Republic of China (Taiwan), Minister of Transportation, a National Assembly member, and the first director of the Independence Hall of Korea.
