Life & career

Guk Gyeong-rye (b. 1428) was an early Joseon official; according to Wikipedia he passed the civil examination in 1451 and served as Remonstrator at the Office of Remonstrance. Under King Sejo he is said to have spoken frankly to the king.

He declined the post of Chief Remonstrator and returned to Damyang to study and teach. Wikipedia records that the family flourished in the generation of his six sons (Geo-gyeong, Hwa-gyeong, Seung-gyeong, Jang-gyeong, Bang-gyeong, Chi-gyeong). The clan's Joseon civil graduates are counted as two, Guk Gyeong-rye and Guk Min.

Whether his name appears in other rolls such as the Gukjo Munwa Bangmok was not confirmed, and the details rest on Wikipedia alone. His death year and tomb are unknown.
