Life & career

Grand Prince Gwangpyeong (Yi Yeo, 李璵) was the fifth son of King Sejong and Queen Soheon. Known for his learning, calligraphy and music, he died young at twenty.

His line flourished nonetheless, forming the Gwangpyeong-daegun branch of the Jeonju Yi clan, one of its largest. It produced three chief state councillors, and Lee Beom-seok, South Korea's first Prime Minister, was a descendant.
