Yi Han (李翰) is the founding ancestor of the Jeonju Yi clan. He is said to have held the office of Sagong (司空) in Silla and to have died in 754 (the 13th year of King Gyeongdeok). As his grave site was lost, King Gojong of Joseon had the Jogyeongdan (肇慶壇) altar built at Geonjisan in Jeonju, North Jeolla, where the site was said to be, and memorial rites are held there every April; in 1771 (the 47th year of King Yeongjo), the Jogyeongmyo (肇慶廟) shrine housing his memorial tablet was also built north of Gyeonggijeon in Jeonju.
His descendants include King Taejo Yi Seong-gye, founder of the Joseon dynasty, who is said to be Yi Han's 22nd-generation descendant. As the royal clan of the Joseon dynasty, the Jeonju Yi clan produced generations of kings and countless clan members and notable figures over the dynasty's more than 500 years, making it one of Korea's most prominent clans.
His 22nd-generation descendant was King Taejo Yi Seong-gye, and the Joseon royal house is of that line.
