Yi Eun-chan (1878-1909) was a Confucian scholar from Wonju, Gangwon Province, who rose in righteous-army (uibyeong) resistance after the 1895 assassination of Empress Myeongseong and again after the 1905 Eulsa Treaty. Following the disbandment of the Korean imperial army in 1907, he helped organize the nationwide Thirteen Provinces Righteous Army, serving as its central commander under supreme commander Yi In-yeong.
He helped plan the March on Seoul, and after its failure continued guerrilla operations in Gyeonggi and Hwanghae provinces for about two years. Captured in 1909 at Yongsan Station in Seoul, he was sentenced to death and executed on June 16, 1909, at age 33.
