Life & career
On hearing that Cho Hyeon-uk, Sin Tae-hyu and others had launched an independence demonstration on March 26, 1919, at Hwamok Market in Hyeonseo-myeon, Cheongsong County, North Gyeongsang Province, Lee Hyeong rushed to the market the next day, March 27, and distributed Korean flags he had prepared to the assembled crowd.
Waving a large flag inscribed with "Long live Korean independence," he led the crowd from the front, shouting for independence. He was arrested for this and sentenced to two years in prison.
