Yi Seong-hyo (1889- ) was a member of the Korean Patriotic Women's Society, a women's independence organization formed in the wake of the March First Movement to support imprisoned activists and raise funds for the Provisional Government in Shanghai by distributing leaflets and underground newspapers.
In November 1919 the organization was betrayed to the Japanese police by a member acting on her husband's orders, leading to the mass arrest of roughly seventy members, including Kim Ma-ria and graduates of Jeongsin Girls' School. Yi Seong-hyo was arrested in this crackdown.
