Life & career

O Da-ryeon was a local magnate of the Naju area in the Later Three Kingdoms period, father of Queen Janghwa, second consort of Wang Geon, and thus maternal grandfather of King Hyejong. Sources from the Naju O side give his dates as 856-944 and call him Lord Daryeon; some give his father as O Bu-don.

His daughter's marriage to Wang Geon is understood as linked to Wang's bringing the Naju region into his sphere. His dates and ancestry rest largely on genealogical tradition and cannot be stated firmly.
