Yi Geon-chang, pen name Yeongjae, was a late-Joseon official and writer from Ganghwa who passed the civil service examination at fifteen.
As a secret royal inspector in Chungcheong and Gyeonggi provinces he was known for strictly punishing corrupt officials, and he wrote Dangui Tongnyak, a history of Joseon's factional strife. He is counted with Kim Taek-yeong and Hwang Hyeon among the great prose writers of the late Joseon period and as an heir to the Ganghwa school.
