Life & career

Baek U-gyeong (白宇經) is the figure traditionally regarded as the founding ancestor of the Suwon Baek clan. Said to be a man of the reign of King Gyeongdeok of Silla, he is recorded as having come from Tang China to Silla and held office. He is said to have settled in the Suwon (水原) area, and his descendants took it as their ancestral seat; however, as this is an ancient tradition, the lineage becomes clearly documented only from a later era.

Descendants

Through the middle progenitor Baek Chang-jik, his descendants have maintained Suwon as their ancestral seat.
