Kim Byeong-gyu (1874-1939) was a colonial-era official from Jubuk-myeon, Gyeongseong County, North Hamgyong Province. In 1910 he founded the private Ungok School in his hometown and served as its dean; after it was upgraded to Munam Public Common School in 1924 he continued to run it, and he also lectured at the Confucian academy Gyeonghagwon established by the Japanese colonial government.
In recognition of these local educational activities he was appointed a councilor (chamui) of the Government-General's Central Advisory Council (Jungchuwon) in June 1933, an appointment for which he is listed as a pro-Japanese collaborator by South Korea's Truth Commission on Pro-Japanese Collaboration and in the Dictionary of Pro-Japanese Biographies compiled by the Institute for Research in Collaborationist Activities.
