Kim Jong-jin (1901–1931), from Hongseong, South Chungcheong, was adopted at age ten and briefly detained as a minor for taking part in the March 1st Movement. He fled to Beijing in 1920, trained at a military academy in Yunnan, and became a leader of the Korean Independence Army New Administration (Sinminbu) in 1927, later heading agriculture, organization, and military affairs for the Korean National Federation in Manchuria alongside Kim Jwa-jin, opposing communist factions. After Kim Jwa-jin's assassination in 1930, tensions worsened, and Kim Jong-jin himself was assassinated by communists at Hailin Station, Heilongjiang, in July 1931 at age 29. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Merit for National Foundation in 1990.
