Kim Mun-jun (1894–1936), born on Jeju Island, graduated from Uisin School and Jeju Public Agricultural and Forestry School and worked at an agricultural experiment station before moving to Osaka in 1927, where he joined the Korean Labor Federation in Japan and served on the executive committee of the Osaka Korean Labor Union. In 1929 he organized the Osaka Korean Youth League, centered on young people from Jeju, and formed the Osaka Rubber Workers' Union, leading labor activism among Koreans in Japan.
Arrested in 1930 for violating the Peace Preservation Law, he was imprisoned at Sakai Prison. In 1935 he founded the newspaper Minjung Sibo to improve the living and working conditions of Koreans in Osaka. He died in 1936 from the effects of torture suffered in custody, and his remains were returned to Jeju for burial.
