Gwon Don-in (1783-1859) was a late-Joseon official from Andong, with courtesy name Gyeonghui, pen name Ijae and posthumous title Munheon, introduced as a fifth-generation descendant of Gwon Sang-ha.
He passed the civil examination under King Sunjo, served as secret royal inspector, Daesaseong and Governor of Hamgyeong, and after Right and Left State Councillor became Chief State Councillor under Heonjong and Cheoljong. In his last years he was impeached over a dispute about private rites for King Jinjong, exiled, and died in exile, later being rehabilitated.
As secret inspector for western Jeolla he exposed corrupt officials, then served as Daesaseong, Magistrate of Yeongbyeon and Governor of Hamgyeong. After ministerial posts at Punishments, War, Personnel and Works, as well as Hanseong governor and Suwon administrator, he rose to Right, Left and Chief State Councillor.
He was active when the Andong Kim and Pungyang Jo in-law families took turns dominating court, and is described as impeaching Andong Kim figures. After Cheoljong's accession he stepped back briefly and then became Chief State Councillor again.
He is said to have been impeached for opposing the treatment of private rites for Jinjong, exiled, and to have died in exile before being rehabilitated. Sources differ on the timing and character of the affair.
