Founding ancestor of the Namyang Hong clan (Danghong line)

Hong Eun-yeol (洪殷悅) is the founding ancestor of the Danghong line (唐洪系) of the Namyang Hong clan. He is said to have distinguished himself in the founding of Goryeo, rising to Samjungdaegwang Taesa (Grand Master).
The Namyang Hong clan is divided into the Danghong line, said to have come from Tang (唐) China, and the Tohong line (土洪系), said to be indigenous; today the great majority of the Namyang Hong clan is of the Danghong line. Namyang (南陽) is the area of present-day Namyang in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, which the descendants took as their ancestral seat.
It produced Ministers of Letters and State Councillors and the Silhak scholar Hong Dae-yong in the Joseon period.
