Yi An-sa (李安社) was the 18th generation of the Jeonju Yi and is known as King Mokjo. The royal line from Mokjo to Emperor Sunjong is called the Seonwon Segye, so Yi An-sa marks the starting point of the Joseon royal line.
According to the Onnyeong-gun branch association, he was a local magnate of Jeonju. After a conflict with the Jeonju magistrate, he moved to Samcheok and then to Deogwon. He later became darughachi of the 5,000 households of Namgyeong under the Yuan.
His descendant Hwanjo, Yi Ja-chun, of the 21st generation, distinguished himself in recovering Ssangseong, and Hwanjo's son, King Taejo Yi Seong-gye, founded Joseon. One reason the clan takes Jeonju as its seat is that the family lived there as magnates until Mokjo.
After a conflict with the magistrate, Yi An-sa left Jeonju for Samcheok and then moved to Deogwon. He later became darughachi of the 5,000 households of Namgyeong under the Yuan.
According to the Onnyeong-gun branch association, 18 branches descend from Mokjo, Ikjo, Dojo and Hwanjo. Three branches split off before Mokjo: Sijunggong, Pyeongjangsagong and Jubudongjeong.
The location of his grave was not confirmed in this research.
