Yi Gi-yong (1889-1961), a descendant of Prince Heungnyeong and son of Yi Jae-won, Prince Wallim, received the title of viscount as a member of the royal family when Japan annexed Korea in 1910.
In 1937 he helped found both the Joseon National Defense Association and Dongyohoe, a group of 59 titled members of the Korean nobility, and in April 1945, near the end of the Pacific War, he was elected to Japan's House of Peers. After liberation he was arrested by the Special Committee for the Investigation of Anti-National Activities in 1949, sentenced to two and a half years in prison, and had half his property confiscated. He is listed as a pro-Japanese collaborator by the government's Truth Commission and in the Dictionary of Pro-Japanese Biographies.
