Yi Jae-wan was a royal-clan official of the late Korean Empire who rose to Minister of War and Minister of the Royal Household, was enfeoffed as Wansun-gun, and helped found and later headed the Hanseong Bank. After Japan's 1910 annexation of Korea he was granted the peerage title of marquis along with a large annuity bond, and is accordingly listed as a pro-Japanese collaborator by Korean government commissions and the Dictionary of Pro-Japanese Biographies.
